Overview
WhyNew COMPUTERS ("we", "us") operates a marketplace for buying new and refurbished computers, and a buyback service where you can sell your used device to us. This policy covers both — browsing and purchasing as a buyer, and submitting, negotiating and completing a sell request as a seller.
Information We Collect
- • Account details — name, email, phone number, and password (stored securely, never in plain text).
- • Contact & delivery details — shipping address, pickup address, and phone number used for orders and buyback pickups.
- • Device details you submit for a sell request — brand, model, specifications, condition, photos, and serial number.
- • Payment and payout details — UPI ID, bank account number, IFSC code, and beneficiary name, used only to process payouts or receive order payments.
- • Communication — messages, offers, counter-offers, and support conversations tied to your orders or sell requests.
- • Usage data — pages viewed, device/browser type, and approximate location, collected automatically to keep the site secure and working properly.
Data From Sell & Refurbish Requests
When you submit a device to sell, we collect the specifications, condition details and photos you provide so our team can evaluate it and generate a quotation. If we request more details or photos to complete the evaluation, anything you submit in response is added to the same request and used only for that evaluation. Once a deal closes, the device condition record and final agreed price are retained as part of our transaction and refurbishment records.
How We Use Your Information
- • To create and manage your account, orders, and sell requests.
- • To generate quotations, process offers/counter-offers, and confirm accepted deals.
- • To schedule pickups or deliveries and keep you updated on status changes.
- • To process payments you make to us, and payouts we make to you.
- • To provide customer support and respond to enquiries.
- • To detect fraud, prevent abuse, and keep the platform secure.
- • To send order, quotation, and payout notifications relevant to your activity — not marketing, unless you opt in separately.
Order & Payment Data
Every payment and payout is logged with a reference, amount, method and timestamp so both you and our finance team can track it end to end. We do not store full card numbers — card and UPI transactions are processed by our payment partners under their own security standards. Bank details you submit for a payout (UPI, account number, IFSC) are used solely to complete that payout and are visible only to authorised finance staff.
Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, access controls, and activity logging on financial and account actions — to protect your data. No online system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information protected and to detect issues quickly.
Data Retention
We retain account, order, sell request and payment records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, to meet accounting, tax, and legal obligations, and to resolve disputes. You can request deletion of your account data, subject to these obligations.
Your Rights & Choices
- • Access and update your profile and payout details from your account at any time.
- • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- • Request correction or deletion of inaccurate or outdated data.
- • Withdraw consent for optional communications by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
Our services are intended for users who are 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date, and where appropriate we'll notify you directly.
